Year of Yay 13.1 - Recap!

The first Year of Yay ride of 2013 was a smashing success. Almost 60 cyclists attended the event which meant that we split into two groups for the first time.

A view from the heavens of a large portion of the group.

The route was 21 miles and we stopped at three different bakeries:

I'll have to admit. I had no idea where we were or where we were going at the beginning. Thankfully, we had a lot of experienced cyclists and after a few turns here and there, we arrived at Audino's Italian Bakery at Clara Ave. and 11th Ave.
Pointing the way to the bakery.
Hello Audino's!
From there, our next leg of the journey was almost 10 miles! It was like any old ride - a lot of pedaling but seeing areas of Columbus from a different perspective. And it was totally worth it when we arrived at Resch's Bakery at Livingston Avenue and Yearling Rd.
Hello Resch's!
Should I also get white cake? the weary cyclist thought.
The last stop was relatively nearby at 3.5 miles away. We went to the heart of Bexley to Drexel Avenue and Main Street to stop at Cherbourg Bakery.
Hello Cherbourg!
We know the secrets to the recipes now. Shh!
While some people carried on to Jury Room, I headed back to Goodale Park with most of the group. I ended up riding 34.5 miles over 3.5 hours. I was certainly glad to have had the opportunity to carbo load during the ride.

Keep an eye out for the next Year of Yay ride on February 16.
