On Friday when I biked in the rain, I forgot about bike maintenance. When I looked at my bike on Monday, I had some rust on my chain! Never fear, when I discovered the rust I put chain lube on and which cleaned it. It's fine now.
I am not an expert at bike maintenance or anything, but it's easy enough to prevent rust damage if you are vigilant. After my wet ride, I should have wiped the bike down and then added bike chain lube to prevent rust from forming. I use ProLink Chain Lube and I have no complaints.
The other trick I know with chain maintenance is that you are supposed to lube each chain link individually. I know this sounds like a pain but it doesn't take that much time and does a much better job than applying a ton of lube while turning the drive train. Plus, you'll cut down on wasted lube.
Today it is supposed to rain. Hopefully I'll heed my own advice and clean and lube my chain when I get home.
